On 3 May 2026, Her Excellency Yan Jiarong, Chinese Ambassador to The Bahamas, attended the 5th Bahamas International Dragon Boat Festival hosted by the Bahamas Chinese Dragon Boat Association. Also in attendance were Mrs. Ann Marie Davis, wife of the Hon. Prime Minister of The Bahamas, and Stephen LaRoda, Director of Immigration for The Bahamas.

In her remarks, Ambassador Yan introduced the guests to China’s over 2,000-year-old dragon boat culture. She highlighted the festival’s strong resonance with Bahamian traditions and its meaningful contribution to The Bahamas' sports tourism and festive economy. She noted that dragon boat racing is not only a competitive sport but also a dialogue between civilizations—one that transcends borders and uses water as a bridge. All of humanity shares the same planet and should strive to live together in harmony. China stands ready to strengthen exchanges and dialogue with countries around the world, including The Bahamas, in order to advance the building of a community with a shared future for humanity.

The two-day festival attracted nearly 50 teams from The Bahamas, the United States, Canada, Jamaica, and other countries. The atmosphere was lively, and the event was covered by mainstream Bahamian media and online influencers.
