On December 27, the Chinese Navy Hospital Ship Ark Silk Road, deployed on the “Harmonious Mission–2025,” successfully concluded its seven-day friendly visit and medical service mission in Barbados and departed the Port of Bridgetown. Prior to its departure, Hon. Davidson I. Ishmael, M.P., Minister of State in the Ministry of Health and Wellness, bid a cordial farewell to the commander of the mission. H.E. Zheng Bingkai, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Barbados and staff of the Chinese Embassy, representatives of the Barbados Defence Force, members of the Chinese Medical Team assisting Barbados, as well as representatives of Chinese enterprises and the Chinese community gathered to bid farewell to the hospital ship. The scene was filled with sincere and warm sentiments.
As an important stop of the “Harmonious Mission–2025” in the Caribbean region, the Ark Silk Road focused on its onboard main medical platform to deliver efficient medical services during its stay in Barbados. A total of 2,455 outpatient consultations were provided; 2,127 examinations—including CT, DR (digital radiography), ultrasound, and electrocardiograms—were conducted; 202 surgeries and medical procedures were performed; and 26 patients were admitted for inpatient care.
Officers and sailors of the “Harmonious Mission–2025” task force also proactively engaged with local communities by visiting hospitals for medical exchanges and carrying out visits, sports, and cultural activities with the Barbados Defence Force, further deepening bilateral friendship and cooperation. H.E. The Most Honourable Jeffrey Bostic, President of Barbados, boarded the ship for a visit, carefully inspected the delivery of medical services, warmly greeted patients receiving treatment, and spoke highly of the professional and efficient medical services provided by the Ark Silk Road.
The successful completion of this Caribbean visit not only delivered tangible health benefits to local communities, but also built a bridge of friendship between China and Caribbean countries. Next, the Ark Silk Road will continue its mission, carrying the deep friendship of the Chinese people as it sails to South America to provide quality medical services to local communities and to write a new chapter of the “Harmonious Mission”.
