On July 30, Ambassador Ren Hongyan met with Mr. Deodat Maharaj, former Managing Director of the United Nations Technology Bank for Least Developed Countries.

Ambassador Ren briefed Mr. Maharaj on the background of China's 15th Five-Year Plan, stating that China is accelerating its transition from a major manufacturing country to a leader in innovation driven by scientific and technological advancements. Seizing the opportunity as Trinidad and Tobago advances its "Revitalisation Blueprint", China is willing to share development opportunities with the Caribbean region, further deepen pragmatic cooperation in areas such as ecological agriculture, affordable housing, and people-to-people exchanges, and enhance the shared well-being of our peoples.
Mr. Maharaj spoke highly of China's achievements in poverty alleviation and socioeconomic development. He expressed his commitment to continuously supporting the friendly relations between Trinidad and Tobago and China, as well as advancing practical cooperation between the two nations to deliver more tangible benefits to the people.
