Beijing, July 21st—Liu Haixing, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), met here today with a multi-party parliamentary delegation of Ecuador headed by Mónica de Jesús Salazar Hidalgo, President of the Ecuador-China Interparliamentary Friendship Group of the National Assembly of Ecuador.
Liu said that China and Ecuador are good friends and good partners. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations 46 years ago, China-Ecuador relations have maintained a sound momentum of development. In June 2025, President Xi Jinping held a successful meeting with President Daniel Noboa, charting the course for the future development of bilateral relations. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the China-Ecuador comprehensive strategic partnership. China stands ready to work with Ecuador to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, deepen political mutual trust, strengthen practical cooperation, and jointly build a brighter future for China-Ecuador relations. China-Ecuador cooperation targets no third party and should not be subject to interference from any third party. Liu also briefed the delegation on the 105-year history of the CPC and its international exchanges. He said that China is willing to strengthen party-to-party exchanges with Ecuador, enhance mutual learning on experience in party governance and state administration, and promote sub-national exchanges, economic and trade cooperation, as well as people-to-people and cultural exchanges through inter-party channels, so as to contribute to the sustained and steady development of the China-Ecuador comprehensive strategic partnership.
Salazar said that although Ecuador and China are separated by great distance, the friendship between the two peoples has stood the test of time, and bilateral relations have continued to move forward steadily. As an ancient Chinese poem says, "A bosom friend afar brings a distant land near," which reflects Ecuador-China relations. Members of the delegation come from different political parties and regions of Ecuador, yet they share broad consensus on developing relations with China. Ecuador firmly adheres to the one-China principle and is ready to deepen political mutual trust with China, expand cooperation in such fields as economy, trade and people-to-people and cultural exchanges, and strengthen exchanges between political parties, legislatures and young people. The National Assembly of Ecuador will continue to build more platforms for exchanges, promote the people-to-people bond, and contribute to consolidating bilateral relations.
