On 28 November 2025, Her Excellency Yan Jiarong, Chinese Ambassador to The Bahamas paid a visit to C. H. Reeves Junior High School. The event was also attended by Mr. Ricardo Deveaux, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education of The Bahamas, Mr. Michael Culmer, Assistant Director of Education of the Ministry of Education, and the school administration.

In her remarks, Ambassador Yan highlighted China’s long history, splendid culture, and the deep bonds of friendship between China and The Bahamas. She congratulated the school’s Junkanoo team on winning the Junior Junkanoo championship for two consecutive years, commending the team’s efforts to feature traditional Chinese culture in its 2026 performance. She stated that both traditional Chinese culture, such as Peking Opera and the Spring Festival, and Bahamian Junkanoo are inscribed on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage List, and that China will continue to promote cultural exchange and mutual appreciation between the two countries. The Chinese Ambassador also encouraged students to deepen their understanding of China, pursue higher education in China, and serve as bridges of friendship between China and The Bahamas.
Representatives from the Ministry and the school leadership expressed appreciation for China’s longstanding and valuable support for the education of The Bahamas and encouraged students to explore Chinese culture actively. Ambassador Yan also enjoyed the school’s Junkanoo show and choir performances and had warm conversations with the teachers and students.
