LA PAZ, May 18 (Xinhua) -- At least four people were killed and several injured when a truck collided with a minibus on a road connecting Bolivia's departments of Cochabamba and Oruro on Saturday, local police said.

The tragedy occurred in the town of Lavini in Cochabamba, according to Marcelo Gomez, deputy director of the Cochabamba Transit Operations Unit. He reported that three of the deceased were passengers in the minibus, while the fourth was the driver of the truck.

Police, firefighters and ambulances have rushed to the crash site to rescue the wounded and carry out rescue work.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
