HAVANA, Dec. 14 (Xinhua) -- The Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-People's Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP) called for solidarity and international cooperation in a final declaration at its 22nd summit here on Wednesday.

The member states "reiterate our commitment to the development and welfare of our nations, as well as to the defense of national sovereignty without any foreign interference," the regional bloc said.

ALBA-TCP highlighted the need to strengthen the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States as a genuine dialogue and political platform.

The statement rejected "the destabilizing plans and actions fueled by powerful external factors and national oligarchies that have managed or are attempting to disregard the will of the Latin American and Caribbean peoples, which has been democratically and legitimately expressed at the polls."

The regional bloc also noted "the efforts to continue strengthening ALBA-TCP (as) a unifying mechanism for the defense of peace, democracy, stability and the well-being of the peoples of Our America."

Founded in 2004, the ALBA-TCP bloc aims to reduce Latin America's reliance on Western aid by promoting intra-regional alliances and cooperation in key sectors such as energy and trade.
