BRASILIA, May 25 (Xinhua) -- Senator Simone Tebet, a so-called "third way" presidential candidate from the Brazilian Democratic Movement, voiced Wednesday her readiness to represent the democratic center in Brazil's October general elections.

Tebet said she is confident that the Brazilian Social Democracy Party will decide to support her, after Joao Doria, former governor of Sao Paulo, withdrew his candidacy two days ago.

Although she is little known to Brazilian voters, Tebet said she will manage to overcome the current polarization between President Jair Bolsonaro from the rightist Liberal Party, and former President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva from the leftist Workers' Party.

The presidential hopeful also committed herself to a liberal economic agenda, noting that as a senator she was in favor of labor and social security reform, and the establishment of a public spending ceiling.

According to the latest polls, Lula da Silva leads with 40-43 percent of the vote, followed by Bolsonaro with 32-35 percent.

The possibility of a "third way" is encouraged by various political forces to overcome the polarization between the two strong candidates, although neither name has managed to arouse the interest of voters.
