Special Representative of the Chinese Government on Latin American Affairs Qiu Xiaoqi Attends the 4th Dialogue Between the Civilizations of China and the LAC

On October 22, 2021, Special  Representative of the Chinese Government on Latin American Affairs Qiu Xiaoqi  attended the 4th Dialogue Between the Civilizations of China and the LAC and  delivered an opening speech titled "Development Experience Sharing: Towards a  New China-LAC Partnership".

Qiu Xiaoqi said, under the  combined impacts of major changes and a global pandemic both unseen in a  century, President Xi Jinping put forward the Global Development Initiative and  concluded that "China-LAC relations have entered a new era featuring equality,  mutual benefit, innovation, openness and tangible benefits for the people",  which is of great practical guidance for China and the LAC to strengthen mutual  learning and achieve common development. In the post-pandemic era, the two sides  should focus on the fundamental issue of development, give priority to  development, and stay committed to a people-centered approach and benefits for  all. The two sides should stay committed to independent exploration, harmonious  coexistence of man and nature, and innovation-driven development. The two sides  should synergize development strategies and deepen mutually beneficial  cooperation, so that the development of China-LAC relations will bring more  benefits to the two peoples, and promote the long-term and steady development of  China-LAC relations in the new era.

This Dialogue is co-hosted by the  Academy of Contemporary China and World Studies, the Institute of Latin American  Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), the Foreign Affairs  Office of Jiangsu Provincial People's Government, Blossom Press, the Latin  American Faculty of Social Sciences, the Latin American Council of Social  Sciences, the Patria Institute, and the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile,  and attended both online and offline by Vice Chairman of the 12th National  Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Ma Peihua,  President of China Foreign Languages Publishing Administration Du Zhanyuan, Vice  President of CASS Wang Linggui, former Vice Foreign Minister Li Jinzhang, former  Chilean President Eduardo Frei Montalva, ambassadors of Brazil and Colombia to  China, as well as more than 100 experts and scholars from China and the LAC.
