On September 1, 2015, President Xi Jinping met with President Nicolás Maduro of Venezuela at the Great Hall of the People.
President Xi Jinping welcomed Nicolás Maduro's visit to China to attend the commemorations marking the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-fascist War. Xi Jinping pointed out that China is glad to see the rapid development of China-Venezuela comprehensive strategic partnership. I am wiling to join efforts with Mr. President to water the tree of friendship and cooperation to better benefit the two peoples. We shall constantly support each other on issues concerning each other's core interests, and fully cooperate on major international issues. Based on reciprocity and mutual benefits, we shall earnestly promote practical cooperation, bring the existing financing mechanisms into full play, and discuss new cooperation in fields such as finance, mining and agriculture. China is willing to help Venezuela build up industrial production capacity to lay a solid foundation for expanding practical cooperation in wider areas. We shall strengthen bilateral exchanges in fields such as culture, education and youth affairs to consolidate the public opinion basis of China-Venezuela friendship.
Nicolás Maduro said that he is delighted to visit China and commemorate with the Chinese people the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-fascist War, and that China's victory in the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression is of important historical significance. Venezuela cherishes the comprehensive strategic partnership with China, and is willing to strengthen cooperation with China in various areas such as energy and finance in its national development and to maintain close bilateral coordination and cooperation on international affairs.
